The offense wasn’t the problem for the Pelicans. Williamson, Brandon Ingram, and Jrue Holiday combined for 65 of the Pelicans 122 points. Zion Williamson had himself a day, going for 24 points on 10/12 shooting in just 22 minutes of play.
That didn’t seem to matter because the Pelicans couldn’t stop the Kings if their life depended on it. The Kings scored 140 points and shot 48% from three-point land. The Pelicans couldn’t stop De’Aaron Fox or Bogdan Bogdanovic. Fox scored 30 points and 20 assists. Bogdanovic went off for a career-high 35 points, hitting six three-pointers.
Both the Kings and Pelicans have a record of 29-39 and are now 2.5 games from the 8th seed. They are 1.5 games from the final play-in spot. With just a few games left before the playoffs, one thing is for certain, it will be an exciting finish for that final playoff spot.
