After a very solid 10-year career, Yonder Alonso has officially retired, per a post on Instagram.

Drafted by the Reds in 2008 at the seventh overall slot, he reached the Major Leagues as a Red before going to the Padres in the Mat Latos trade prior to the 2012 season. Following the 2015 season, he was dealt to Oakland and was in All-Star in 2017. Since, it’s been a struggle across time with the Indians, White Sox and Rockies. He had signed with the Braves and was on their 60-player roster pool all of 2020 but never reached the Major Leagues, as first baseman Freddie Freeman did rather well for the Braves, winning the NL MVP.

Alonso hit 100 homeruns in the Majors to coincide with a .736 OPS over 10 seasons. Congratulations to retirement for Alonso.
