Say it ain’t so! The league held a 10 minute conference call with everyone earlier this morning to give them the news. This sucks, this sucks, this sucks, but it isn’t the NBA style of suspending operations, it’s the “its over” type of suspending operations. Coronavirus was no doubt a contributing factor, but I believe it isn’t the only thing responsible.

In June 2018, Vince McMahon sold 100 million dollars worth of WWE stock to invest in Alpha entertainment to begin the XFL again. It was widely reported then that Vince was set to spend 500 Million over 3 years to get the league up and running, and loose 375 million in the process.

Fast forward to earlier this year, after a dismal performance in the 4th quarter of 2019, George Barrios and Michelle Wilson leave the company, 2 long time co-presidents leave the company and an hour later the stock price of WWE loses almost 21 percent.

All Elite Wrestling, a new competitor emerges and gets a TV deal with TNT in the fall of 2019. This deal sparked NXT to ink its own deal with USA Network and go up directly against AEW for ratings.

This pandemic created chaos, but with the above factors, are we surprised that the XFL is done for the time being and doesn’t seem to be coming back?
