Contract season is upon us in the wrestling world.

Yes, it is true that deals and agreements and year round. However, MANY of them are simple year to year contracts, which are coming due very soon. For WWE, they are the biggest (and in my opinion the best) company in the world. Thus, whenever a free agent hits the market, by default, they are the go to answer. Same with Major League Baseball. Whenever a big name is out there, folks immediately speculate the New York Yankees will sign them to a huge, fat contract worth millions. Obviously, it doesn’t happen very often, but it is always the first instinct for fans.

Now that we are nearing the end of December, that means it may be time to pounce on Impact Wrestling a little bit.

According to the Wrestling Observer, WWE has been making overtures towards some of their top stars.

No names were given in the report. Ethan Page and Taya had been rumored to be nearing the end of their Impact details though…so some are making the leap it pertains to those two individuals. Again though, no names were given.

If you ask me, Taya is somebody who I could see heading to WWE. In the very limited amounts I have seen of her (across various platforms), she is a star. If anybody is getting a contract offer between those two, it has to be her. I know many like to state that her husband, John Morrison, is also in WWE right now…however, we have seen couples work in different promotions before. Plus, with nobody really traveling right now and a lot of wrestlers living in Florida, that becomes even less of an issue for a relationship.

Still, if I had to guess, I would say her time in Impact is coming to a close, assuming WWE is calling.

As for Ethan Page, the dude has gotten himself into amazing shape throughout 2020. I don’t care for the stupid Karate Man gimmick he likes to think people laugh at, but he is charismatic and JACKED! Did I mention he worked himself silly this year? No doubt about it. If his goal was to be ready to hit the free agency market come January 1st, job well done. He is buddies with Cody Rhodes, so I do wonder if he is aiming for an AEW run instead of WWE. All Elite Wrestling seem to give their roster a whole ton of creative freedome – hence something dumb like the Karate Man fitting in.

Time will tell though.

In any event, get ready for a whole bunch of contracts expiring and some fun within the wrestling world. Signings, re-signings, resignings, offers, counter offers, etc. Buckle up!
