Let’s get into WrestleMania 29…

Location – MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, New Jersey

Date – April 7, 2013

Attendance – 80,676

Headline – This match was on the pre-show and was a very solid match in which Miz would become the new Intercontinental Champion after submitting Barrett with the figure-four leg-lock for the win.

Rating – 2 out of 5

Headline – In The Shield’s WrestleMania match, the trio would gain a win over 3 former World Champions when Reigns speared Orton and Ambrose would pin him to get the 3-count. After the match, Big Show turned heel and planted Sheamus and Orton each with WMD’s.

Rating – 2.5 out of 5

Headline – These 2 behemoths would go at it right from the bell and “The World’s Strongest Man” would get the win over Ryback after driving Ryback’s face into the mat, effectively knocking him out and would get the easy 3-count. After the match, Ryback hit Henry with a spine-buster and his finishing move, the “Shell-shock”.

Rating – 1.5 out of 5

Headline – Before the match began, Ziggler kissed AJ Lee as Bryan did the year before at WrestleMania 28 which caused him to be distracted and he would lose his World Heavyweight Championship in 18-seconds against Sheamus but this time, he would retain his title, along with his teammate, Kane who would choke-slam Ziggler and tag-in Bryan, who would hit Ziggler with a diving headbutt from the top rope and pin Ziggler for the win.

Rating – 2.5 out of 5

Headline – Fandango would win his in-ring debut against one of the best of all-time, Chris Jericho after Jericho locked in the “Walls of Jericho” and Fandango rolled him up for the 3-count in one of the biggest upsets in WrestleMania history.

Rating – 3 out of 5

Headline – The pair traded finishing moves and some solid back-and-forth and Del Rio would retain his title when he locked in his signature cross-arm-breaker, which would make Swagger would tap-out.

Rating – 2.5 out of 5

Headline – The Undertaker would yet again be involved in the match of the night at WrestleMania, this time, defeating one of the best in-ring workers in the business, CM Punk. After many interference attempts by Paul Heyman and several finishers being exchanged by the pair, Taker would extend his WrestleMania undefeated streak to 21-0 after hitting Punk with a tombstone pile-driver for the 3-count.

Rating – 4.3 out of 5

Headline – This match had the added stipulation of HHH’s career being on the line and would be a very good match with tremendous storytelling. There was a ton of interference from Heyman and Michaels and HHH would extend his career after hitting Lesnar with the Pedigree on the steel steps for the win.

Rating – 3.5 out of 5

Headline – The rematch from the previously headline “Once in a Lifetime” bout the 2 had, the year prior at WrestleMania 28, a match in which The Rock would be victorious in his hometown of Miami, Florida. This was another great match between 2 of the biggest stars in Professional Wrestling history. The pair would trade off several finishers and near-falls but Cena would become the new WWE Champion after Cena countered the Rock Bottom with an AA and get the win. After the match, Rock and Cena shook hands and would hug and pose on the stage to close the show.

Rating – 4 out of 5

WrestleMania 29 Rating – 3.1 out of 5

Summary – WrestleMania 29 was a very, very solid show, but nothing more. Taker-Punk, HHH-Lesnar and Rock-Cena carried the load of the evening with Jericho-Fandango and Del Rio-Swagger adding some pretty good entertainment and in-ring skills.
