Mark Sanchez was once a very promising NFL quarterback prospect. He played college football at the University of Southern California (USC), and was drafted by the New York Jets in the first round (fifth overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft.
Despite a subpar first season, Sanchez led the Jets to the AFC Championship Game, a losing effort to the Indianapolis Colts, becoming the fourth rookie quarterback in NFL history to win his first playoff game and the second to win two playoff games. In his second season, Sanchez again led the Jets to the AFC Championship Game, losing to the Pittsburgh Steelers; he joined Ben Roethlisberger as the only two quarterbacks in NFL history to reach the conference championship in their first two seasons in the league.
After leaving the Jets in 2014, Sanchez signed on with the Philadelphia Eagles. After a two year stint there, he ended up playing for the Denver Broncos, Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bears and the Washington Football Team. Nowadays, you can find him on ESPN as a college football analyst.
One thing has always remained a mystery about Sanchez, and that is the fact that for whatever crazy reason, he let his former girlfriend Hilary Rhoda get away from him. Why in the world would he ever do that? Not familiar with Hilary? Take a look at a few pictures of her below and you’ll see why he should have put a ring on it.
In other NFL news, it was reported last week that former New York Jets player Pete Lammons passed away after a drowning accident. Lammons was participating in a Major League Fishing tournament in Brookeland, Texas, on when he tripped, fell into the lake and could not be saved. Lammons nephew commented on the tragedy below.
Lammons joined the Jets after being drafted in the 1966 AFL Draft as a Tight End. He played with the Jets through 1971 and was eventually traded to the Green Bay Packers whereby he finished his career in 1972. Lammons was part of the Jet’s Super Bowl III victory in 1969 over the Baltimore Colts.
