The NBA Draft is just nine days away. I know, that’s hard to believe. I love the Draft, everything about it, all the rumors, the trade talks, and when your team picks the guy you want, there isn’t much better of a feeling. It gives you hope for the future. This draft is interesting because there isn’t a conscious number one pick this year. There have been too many different stories and projections with a different number one pick for the T-Wolves.

No one knows what’s going to happen. Hell, the Timberwolves probably won’t know what they are going to do until next week. That’s why I am here, I’m going to give the Timberwolves some advice.

The Timberwolves shouldn’t trade this pick, this draft isn’t considered to be anything amazing. There’s some solid talent but nothing compared to years past. The Timberwolves wouldn’t get much in return, so why not take the chance on young talent. The Wolves shouldn’t select LaMelo Ball, they already have a point guard in D’Angelo Russell. James Wiseman has been the most popular name revolving around the T-Wolves. A seven-foot center from Memphis, but Wiseman played only three games with Memphis thanks to the NCAA and their awful rules. Wiseman was a beast in those three games, averaging 19.7 points, 10.7 rebounds, and three blocks per game. But the Wolves don’t need a big man, they already have someone by the name of Karl-Anthony Towns. You know the number one overall pick from 2015 and the man who averaged a double-double last season, 26.6/10.8/4.4 on 50% from the field and 41% from deep.

The Timberwolves should select Anthony Edwards with their number one overall pick. Edwards is a shooting guard out of Georgia but can play multiple positions. Edwards was coached by Tom Crean in his lone year at Georgia, the same guy who coached Dwyane Wade and Victor Oladipo in college. Edwards averaged an SEC best 19.1 points per game as a 19-year-old, to go along with 5.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game. Edwards scored 30 or more three times, including 37 against Michigan State.

The main issue with Edwards was his shot selection, only shooting 29.4% from three and 40.2% from the field. Edwards struggled on the defensive end. Georgia had a defensive rating of 110.1 with him on the floor, compared to 103 with Edwards off the court. I do think Edwards can develop on the defensive end, given his insane athleticism. Georgia did only go 16-16 with Edwards, but that’s not terrible considering Georgia’s record before that. The Dawgs went 11-21 the season before, Crean’s first-year coach, who was brought in to rebuild the program. Georgia has pretty much no basketball tradition, only one NCAA Tournament win in Edward’s life. The Dawgs also had a rotation with five freshmen last season, and Edwards was the only one ranked in the top 50 of their class. Safe to say Georgia’s struggles weren’t all on Edwards.

Remember, Edwards just turned 19 in August, he’s the third-youngest player in the Draft. Edwards is 15 months younger than fellow draft member Cole Anthony. Edwards is a high school-aged kid with all the talent that could make him a great NBA player.

So Timberwolves listen to me, select the Ant-man. He’s not a perfect prospect but nobody is in this Draft. Everyone has multiple flaws, Edwards has all the potential in the world to become a great NBA player.
