Jordan Love has been the topic of conversation since he was picked in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers but for reasons other than his ability. As a Packers fan the hope for Love was that he sat for a few years, watch Rodgers get one or two more rings, then rise up and continue the Packers’ success. But that’s not reality, the reality is that we may be seeing Jordan Love on the filed sooner than we wanted. So I think it’s time that we get ourselves properly introduced to Jordan Love as a potential starter. Jordan Love is only 22 years old and his potential is sky high. The game is clearly different at the college level but I’ve watched a lot of tape on Love, if his mechanics have improved in Green Bay this young man could be the surprise of the decade.
With three years under his belt at Utah State Love threw 60 TDs and 29 INTs. He also threw for 8,600 yards with a completion percentage of 61%. His best season at Utah State was during his sophomore year where he threw for 3,567 yards, 32 TDs, and only 6 INTs. He also had his best game statistically in that same season in a win over UNLV, he went 17/23, threw for 322 yards, and 5 TDs. Imagine if that 2018 accuracy comes with him to the pros. Stats only tell part of the story of course, Love has the ability to extend plays, make throws off his back foot, and slings a nice deep ball. Sounds like somebody else that I know. It’s interesting to me how the jury is already out on Love when we haven’t even seen him play in the NFL, the 2020 preseason was canceled last season so he didn’t touch the field. There has been buzz around him this off season as many people around him and the Packers believe he has made a lot of progress. Coach Matt LaFleur has already said that Love is ready to start if he has too. Jordan Love might be the best kept secret in the NFL, a secret that could be out in the matter of weeks.
