NOTE: the referee crew in the headline photo is not the official crew for today’s AFC Championship Game.
All the NFL referee crews this season have had their fair share of controversial calls that went the other way towards teams.
In today’s AFC Championship Game between the Tennessee Titans and the Kansas City Chiefs, the Titans may have gotten a bad call that completely changed the game in its own right.
On a third down and one yard to go, one linesman official threw the flag for a holding call a little too early. Early as in before the play even starts. Down below is the clip of the ‘penalty’ call.
Hmmm. It’s not as egregious as the one than the Rams-Saints pass interference non-call last season in a conference championship game, but it did help extend Kansas City’s lead at the point of the game.
The Chiefs went to win the AFC Championship with a 35-24 victory over the Titans.
