In the top of the third inning in an overcast, rainy game against the Detroit Tigers, future Hall of Fame and Los Angeles Angels first baseman Albert Pujols hit a towering home run to left field, clinching himself a milestone statistic in Detroit this afternoon.

The hit officially put him with exactly 2,000th RBIs in his career. Only two other players in the MLB have eclipsed the mark.

Leading 5-0 at that time, the milestone hit came off Tigers starting pitcher Ryan Carpenter and the Angels went on to extend their lead to 6-0 after the home run.

Pujols joins Alex Rodriguez and Hank Aaron as the only players in the 2,000 RBI club. The home run was Pujols’ 639th of his career.
