Less than 24 hours after the Gladstone Summer baseball team honored their fallen former player, Christian Groleau, it is announced that on Wednesday there will be a special memorial race also held in his honor later this month.

Facebook user Aly Sullivan announced in her own post that the UPIR and the Groleau Family will host the first annual Christian Groleau Memorial Race will be held on Saturday, July 25th at the U.P. State Fairgrounds in Escanaba.

Sullivan said in her post that there will be increased purses, prizes for 50/50 contests/consolations and trophies for feature race winners.

The race will also hold a tribute to the late hometown driver, who passed away back in late January. Christian is survived his mother and father Charlotte & Jim, sisters, Morgan and Clarissa, his dogs, friends, and his close racing family.

“We will honor Christian’s memory with an event that is sure to be worthy of Christian’s huge heart and contagious smile,” Sullivan said.

Green flag for the events is set to drop at 7 pm.
