A central U.P. native is joining the coaching staff for Northern Michigan University and Olympic National Trianing site’s Greco-Roman Wrestling team (NMU-OTS) as their new assistant coach.

According to a post by Jack Hall and RRN Sports, Escanaba native Jamie Segorski was brought on to the coaching staff after serving over a decade as head coach for the Escanaba High School’s wrestling team.

Under Segorski’s leadership, his teams won 11 district championships and four U.P. titles.

“I am very excited that Jamie is joining our program,” NMU-OTS Head Greco-Roman Wrestling Coach Andy Bisek said. “He is familiar with NMU and he has a strong work ethic and high character.”

“He has a presence in the local, regional and national youth wrestling community, and he has built one of the most successful youth programs in the Upper Peninsula. I believe he will be a great fit to help build our team.”

Aside from coaching, Segorski was involved in law enforcement for 23 years and has served in the U.S. Army. He also owns and coaches the Upper Level Wrestling Club, where they have produced champions based on state and national levels.
