We have some sad news to share from out in the Santa Cruz, California areas as a deputy sheriff was shot and killed in an ambush earlier Sunday, which also left another two fellow officers injured at the scene.

One America News Network (OANN) said in a post that Sergeant Damon Gutzwiller, 38, responded to calls regarding a suspicious van in that area.

The van took off from the scene and opened fire on the officers, killing Guntzwiller. Another deputy and a California Highway Patrol (CHP) were also injured in the incident.

The alleged shooter, Steven Carillo, was also shot during his capture and arrested by authorities shortly after.
