In the Cavaliers 115-112 win in OT against the Pistons, Tristan Thompson had the game of his career, with 35 points, 14 rebounds, 3 blocks, and a steal. Needless to say, the man was a juggernaut. Thompson was playing so good in fact, he channeled his inner Lebron a couple of times in the game.
During an inbound, Thompson was moving Darius Garland like a pawn in a game of chess, while also pointing out to Collin Sexton where to stand. Another moment was in the Cavaliers huddle during a timeout, the cameras caught Thompson taking the marker out of the coaches hand, and drawing up the play himself.
Thompson was drafted with the 4th overall pick in 2011, and last night he actually played like it. I wouldn’t expect it to happen again for a little while. Maybe one of the teams under sized guards could have a breakout game….or maybe I’ll just keep following hockey like I’ve been doing this season instead…yeah I like that idea better.
