The Portland Trail Blazers have locked their star point guard for a max deal as they signed Damian Lillard to a four-year, $196 million contract extension.

A tweet by senior NBA writer Shams Charania states that the extension could be potentially up to six years and $258 million. The average salary per year would be up to around $43 million.

With the way the contract looks with the incentives put into the deal, Lillard will likely become the first player to earn over $50 million per year and up to $250 million overall.

Lillard is coming off a successful season with Portland, helping the Blazers reach the Western Conference Finals for the first time since the 1999-2000 season. Eventually losing to the Golden State Warriors in a four-game sweep.

His main achievements include being selected to the All-NBA 2018 First-Team and having his number retired from his alma mater at Weber State University in Utah.

Entering this upcoming season, the four-time All-Star is averaging up to 23.8 points and 6.3 assists per game in his career.
