The Toronto Blue Jays lost one of their premier players to free agency. But they landed one as well.

Toronto is signing free agent right handed starter Kevin Gausmanto a five-year, $110 million deal.

Gausman returns to the American League East after spending the last two seasons with the San Francisco Giants. In 2021, Gausman was 14-6 with a 2.81 ERA in 33 starts with 227 strikeouts in 192 innings. Gausman began his career pitching for the Baltimore Orioles from 2013-2018.

With Robbie Ray, the reigning AL Cy Young winner also on the market and potentially headed elsewhere, it forced Toronto to look elsewhere on the open market for pitching and with the Mets getting aggressive for Max Scherzer, the Blue Jays went all in for Gausman.
