Top Five Matthew Stafford Moments

Stafford gave the Lions and the fans many awesome moments throughout 12 seasons. Such as 38 game-winning drives, eight of those coming in one season. Becoming the fastest quarterback to reach 40,000 yards, you get the point. Stafford gave us Lions fans many memories. Here are his top five moments.

Number Five: Stafford Truck Sticks Titans Defender

The first play isn’t even a throw but a awesome truck stick by Stafford in 2016 against the Titans. This play is the definition of Stafford in one play, toughness. Instead of going down like most quarterbacks, Stafford took the defender down. This play was awesome. Stafford showing his toughness.

Number Four: Game Winning Drive Against The Raiders To Clinch First Winning Season Since 1999

This game was crucial for the Lions. It was week 15, 2011. The Lions came in at 8-5 looking to get into the playoffs for the first time since 1999. Winning this game went a long way in doing that. The Lions were down 27-14 late in the fourth quarter. Stafford found Titus Young on a 4th down to cut the lead to 27-21 with five minutes left, the Lions got the ball back at their own nine with 2:00 left. Stafford led the drive, finding Calvin Johnson multiple times. Stafford then found Johnson for the touchdown to put the Lions up 28-27. The Lions would stop the Raiders, clinching their first winning season since 1999. The Lions would clinch a playoff spot the week later.

Number Three: Game Winning Drive Against Washington

Just one of the eight game-winning drives Stafford had in that special 2016 season. The Lions entered that game 3-3, after starting 1-3. The Lions needed the win badly to turn around the disappointing start. Right before the drive, Kirk Cousins led one to give Washington the lead. Well, Stafford responded right back with the game-winning drive. Stafford found Anquan Boldin for the touchdown to prompt the Lions to 4-3 on the season.
