The City of Detroit to Host a Future NFL Draft? Lions President Rod Wood Thinks It’s Possible

In a recent press conference, Detroit Lions Team President and CEO Rod Wood made a bit of a bold statement towards the NFL for their future plans.

Via NFL Update on Twitter, Wood firmly believes that the city of Detroit is making a push to host an NFL Draft in the near future and is a ‘serious contender for one of the host sites for the year 2024.

It’ll be interesting how this will play out and what type of push the city makes in hopes to be a host site. With the addition of Little Caesars Arena and renovations to Ford Field, maybe this could happen for the Detroit.

The current upcoming sites for the NFL Draft include Las Vegas in 2022 (originally scheduled for last year, but cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic) and Kansas City in 2023.

Later this year, the NFL Draft will be held, with limited fans in attendance, in Cleveland. The dates for the Draft are Thursday, April 29 – Saturday, May 1.
