After a long and hard season, only two teams remain. On Sunday the 2nd of February at the Hard Rock Arena in Miami, Florida, the Kansas City Chiefs will go head to head against the San Francisco 49ers for the greatest prize in American sport – the Super Bowl.
For the 49ers, they will be looking to take a 6th Super Bowl with them back to San Francisco, although the last of these victories was 25 years ago. To get to this season’s showpiece, they crushed the Green Bay Packers 37 – 20 to win the National Football Conference Championship. Having led 27 – 0 at half-time, this was certainly one of the more straightforward championship games in their history.
As for Kansas, for many of their supporters, this will be their first-ever taste of Super Bowl Sunday because the last time they got this far was 50 years ago. They overcame a spirited challenge by the Tennessee Titans 35 – 24 to secure the AFC Championship and book their seats on the plane down to Miami.
So, who is going to win? The bookmakers have sided with the Chiefs as early favourites. However, the beauty of this year’s event is that it’s a very close one to call. If the old saying about defences win championships holds true, then the 49ers may just pinch it. As we’ve seen from the last two matches, the Chiefs have a tendency to be slow starters. Against the Titans, they were down 10 – 0 early on, and in the previous game, they gave Houston a 24 – 0 head start. Of course, they powered back in both of these encounters, but can they afford to risk it against a well-drilled unit like San Francisco? That is the big question.
If you’re looking to have a wager on this year’s Super Bowl, you can find many stellar betting sites and match predictions online. However, just remember, it’s not all about the money line. The leading bookmakers will offer dozens of game and player prop bets, and some of these may well offer better value than the match result.
If you believe the Chiefs will start slow again, check out the first quarter markets to see what prices you can pick up on the 49ers winning this 15-minute segment. Alternatively, you can jump on the race to 10 or 15 points if you prefer. As always, do your research before betting, there are always good value bets available if you know where to look. Best of luck to you, and may the best team win Super Bowl 54.
