Shohei Ohtani has easily made the biggest splash this season in Major League Baseball, being a tremendous two-way player for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Not only does he lead the league in homeruns entering 5/20, he throws one of the best pitches in baseball as well. In total, batters are hitting .126 off Ohtani, however, hitters are hitting just .028 off his splitter.

Here is an overlay provided by pitching ninja on twitter, of Ohtani’s fastball and splitter:

Not to mention that Ohtani also throws over 100 mph and his splitter drops off at an average of 89.3 mph. Watching him pitch should remind you just how hard it is to hit a baseball.

If you needed any more convincing just how good Ohtani is, he is leading the league in home runs, he is ranked the 21st

fastest player in baseball, and has an OPS over .950.

The only question to ask about Shohei Ohtani is what can’t he do?

Here’s a video of him hitting the absolute piss out of a baseball for your enjoyment.
