For Northern Michigan University (NMU) students, alumni and all hockey fans alike that are going to be attending this Saturday’s game, there will be something very cool that will be happening at the Berry Events Center then.

On Twitter, NMU Athletics have announced that there will be a teddy bear toss being held for this Saturday’s matchup against the University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs.

The teddy bear tossing is an annual event in which fans of all ages can bring in a stuffed animal and throw it out onto the ice for donation.

NMU stated in their post that there were a record 623 toys donated in a socially-distanced style of tossing last year that had fans tossing the bears through basketball hoops into a mini hockey rink.

The NMU Wildcats are set to face the Bulldogs this Friday and Saturday, December 3-4 with face off schedule for 6:37 pm on both nights. The teddy bear toss is set to be held during the Saturday game’s first intermission.

Upon entry into the game, fans who do bring in a stuffed animal will receive a free ticket to any NMU basketball home game of their choice.
