A proud family moment was on display earlier this week as walk-on freshman Steven Izzo scored his first point as a Michigan State Spartan, with his father, MSU head coach Tom, watching from the bench.
With the shot taking place in an exhibition game against Albion University, the younger Izzo was taking it all in as his dad was watching proudly as both a coach and parent.
The video of the playing time, shot and reaction from Coach Izzo via Michigan State on BTN on Twitter can be seen down below.
Checking into a game tonight for the first time (and scoring his first @MSU_Basketball point) was Steven Izzo, a freshman guard, and, of course, coach Tom Izzo's son. 💚

A very cool moment for the Yooper (Upper Peninsula) native basketball coach and the family in that game.
For the boy who have grown up learning the game of basketball through his famous coach/father and former MSU basketball players, the young, walk-on Izzo has to feel so happy that he got to play his first game, for his father, in green and white.
For a fan base that saw Steven Izzo grow up in front of their eyes, last night was pretty cool. pic.twitter.com/wNpuaCXXSy— David Harns (@DavidHarns) October 30, 2019
