The Pittsburgh Steelers have officially named Russell Wilson their starting Quarterback for the Sunday matchup against the New York Jets.
There had been speculation all week on who Head Coach Mike Tomlin would name as his starter for the week 7 game.
Justin Fields had started the first 6 games at QB leading the Steelers to a 4-2 record. Fields has struggled passing the ball, but had done a good job of the leading the offense.
Fields has has thrown for just 1,106 yards and five touchdowns in six games. He has 231 yards and five scores rushing.
Wilson was originally scheduled to be the Steelers starting QB, before a calf injury sidelined him.
This will be Wilson’s first start since December of 2023, when he was with the Denver Broncos.
