Today the Marlins played their first postseason game since their 2003 World Series victory over the New York Yankees. They won 5-1 off of the strength of a three run homerun from Corey Dickerson and two run homerun from Jesus Aguilar. The former Rays abused the basket.

But it’s a former Pirate and Diamondback who’s alarming Miami, after the teams top hitter and big deadline acquisition Starling Marte was hit in the hand in the ninth inning.

Marte has been great for the Marlins and this is certainly a big blow as they look to advance tomorrow. He is considered day to day and his status for tomorrow will depend on how his batting practice goes. For Marte, he’s a free agent to be should Miami not pick up his 2021 club option.
