It’s like the Dodgers are Negan and all the 29 other teams are kneeled down preparing to potentially get their heads smashed in. While they aren’t the only team reportedly in on the Giancarlo Stanton sweepstakes(sweepstakes don’t seem to do it justice), they would become an unfair team if they added him. Imagine a lineup including Justin Turner, Corey Seager, Yasiel Puig, Cody Bellinger, Chris Taylor, and Giancarlo Stanton. Good luck opposing starting pitchers.
Well sources say they are in. If they truly are in on him, they have a good enough farm system(at least top 10 in the MLB) to get a deal done. Given that they have such a huge payroll(#1 in the majors according to spotrac.com: $265,149,292)some of that amount obviously will need to be paid for by the Marlins to get a deal done. Also, he would have to waive his full no-trade clause, but it would fulfill something that Giancarlo has been searching for; a legitimate shot at the playoffs. Stanton finished his 2017 campaign with 59 home runs, 132 rbis, .281 batting average, .376 OBP, and an astounding 1.007 OPS. Those are not easy numbers for a hitter to accomplish.
I think this is enough to leave Dodgers fans salivating though, and does much more justice than words can say. Picture him doing this in a Dodgers uniform.
