Square Enix’s Marvel’s Avengers Will Get a Gameplay Reveal Next Week…But There’s a Catch

Back at E3 last month, Square Enix showed off the first footage of its upcoming adaptation of Marvel’s Avengers, which got somewhat of a mixed reception from fans. But don’t worry, there’s more where that came from – and it’s apparently coming next week to San Diego Comic-Con.

The publisher made it clear that, next week, it’ll be at the big event during the Marvel Games panel next Thursday, to show off more gameplay footage for the upcoming blockbuster, set to debut next May. And during that time, attendees will be able to see more of the game in action. But…there’s a catch.

While some of the panel will be live-streamed for those  that aren’t in attendance, apparently the gameplay won’t be. Here are the notes on that portion of the panel, straight from the listing for it:

“Join Shaun Escayg, Creative Director at Crystal Dynamics, and the performance cast of Marvel’s Avengers for a special presentation that will include new information and the first public gameplay reveal for Hall H attendees only.”

While this serves as good news for those in attendance, this will no doubt leave those hoping to see more of the game in action – and not attending the show – feeling somewhat bitter. There could be a chance that Square Enix will reveal more of the game later in the summer, possibly during Disney’s D23 Expo. But, for the time being, most fans are being left out in the cold.

The game is expected to have huge presence during San Diego Comic-Con next week, with an on-the-show-floor presentation and advertising throughout the halls and around the Gaslamp District. So, you’d think some exclusive gameplay for fans to check out would be cool and all. Alas, we’ll have to wait it out. Hopefully it’ll be worth it. Fingers crossed.

Marvel’s Avengers arrives on May 15, 2020 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
