If your answer to the question is yes, get used to being sore and enduring a ton of pain.
It’s a dream many have sitting on their living room floor or on the arm of a couch pretending to be a bull rider.
For the real bull riders getting on 1,800-pound live animals, wrecks happen. With injuries, it is not a question of will it happen…instead, it’s a matter of when and how bad.
Case in point: Derek Kolbaba’s matchup with Red Moon (17-8) on Sunday during the championship round of the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Unleash The Beast event inside the All-State Arena in Chicago.
Kolbaba nodded, and Red Moon blew out of the chute. Red Moon beat Derek around a turn and sent him flying back into the chute.
Check it out:
Derek got on his feet and gathered his wits as he looked across the arena, trying to figure out where the ride went wrong.
The video shows the toughness of the cowboys who crawl on these mighty beasts. What might put another athlete on the sidelines for a few weeks, even months, is just another day earning their keep 8-seconds at a time.
Derek will brush this wreck off as he competes in the Denver Stock Show starting Monday evening. The bruises and soreness come with the territory of his profession.
So…are you sure you want to be a bull rider?
