Ethan Cardwell and Michael Raskin are the co-hosts of one of the fastest growing hockey podcast in Canada, Showbound: The Podcast.

With only 4 episodes released these two young men continue to climb the charts and solidifying themselves as a serious player in the world of hockey media.

The X factor that sets this show apart from the other thousands of hockey podcasts is Ethan Cardwell being a current player in the OHL. He is entering his third year of play and going into his first season as a solidified star for the Barrie Colts. Cardwell, just an 18 year old impressed the league last season after getting traded from the Saginaw Spirit putting up 26 points in 26 games with the Barrie Colts. Along with an unforgettable 4 goal first period.

Yea. 4 goals in the FIRST period.

Michael Raskin, the 22 year old Vaughan native has a very unique history in the game of hockey. Raskin played 2 seasons in the GMHL for three teams. What makes his experience with the game of hockey so unique is his accomplishments as a front office member at such young ages. Raskin was an intern scout for the Niagara Ice Dogs for the 2015-16 season. For 3 seasons after he was the general manager for Brock University’s men’s hockey team while he was a student there.

The Podcast gives its listeners a cool perspective of having Cardwell a current player, having discussions with many of his current and former opponents.

The show provides appearances from young NHL prospects, NHL draft picks and other young superstars from the CHL and NHL. This show gives the ability to interview and discuss players as they begin their journey into the “show”.

The innovation and creativity shown by Raskin and especially Cardwell should be taken note by many executives in the media world and hockey world. For these two guys to start this bold idea and be able to turn it into a successful show, it is very impressive. There are so many OHL, QMJHL,WHL and other junior players who listen to shows like Spittin Chiclets. Many of these players have also thought that it could be a cool idea to have a podcast. Cardwell took his opportunity from meeting Raskin as a media member for the Barrie Colts and ran with it.

With only four episodes out, Cardwell and Raskin have yet to disappoint. The boys continue to live in the top 10 for hockey podcasts in Canada.

Episode one features Cole Perfetti, the 10th overall pick from the 2020 NHL draft. In just the first episode listeners were able to see the unique experience of having Cardwell as a co-host. Cardwell and Perfetti are close friends, they grew up together living 15 minutes away from each other. They were also both drafted by the Saginaw Spirt and played there together for their first season.

Episode two features Quinton Byfield. The 2nd overall pick from this years NHL draft. Also, the highest drafted black player in NHL history. Byfield and Cardwell played against each other many times growing up less than an hour away from each other and this past OHL season. Q wasn’t afraid to get in Cardwell’s ear about his record against the Colts (8-0).

Episode three features Ryan Suzuki. Interestingly enough, Cardwell was traded to Barrie along with other assets for Ryan Suzuki and other assets.

Episode four features Brett Welychka. The 26 year old brings many stories from playing in more than 6 junior/professional leagues including time in the OHL, ECHL, AHL, Canadian USports and now playing professionally in Denmark.

The boys also love to talk about things that other mainstream podcasts tend to stay away from, such as who has got the best or worst style, who is the best or worst chirper and of course the listeners love the discussions on the most recent Bachelorette episodes.

If you’re a hockey fan and interested in the next crop of talent coming to the show than you’ll love this show.
