WOW! When I first saw this, I thought it was a April fools joke but it’s not. Roy Williams is actually retiring. I can’t believe, in shock really. I expected Roy to retire somewhere in the near future but not this offseason. Roy is on of the best coaches ever. Top five all-time coach. Roy spent 18 years at UNC with a record of 485-163 record. Williams won three national championships at UNC to go along with nine regular season ACC championships and three ACC tournament titles.

Williams was inducted to the hall of fame in 2007, he finishes his legendary career with 903 wins, ranking third all-time. Roy reached 900 career wins faster than any other coach. Plus led Kansas and UNC to nine final fours, fourth most all time. We could go on and on about his accolades all day long. Roy has been a great part of college basketball and I can’t imagine the game without him.

Now one of the best jobs in all of basketball has opened up. UNC can get just about anyone they want. A slept on name for the job is UNC Greensboro coach Wes Miller. Miller led the Spartans to a NCAA tournament birth this year and played under Roy. Whoever takes the job has some big shoes to fill. Shoutout to Roy on a great career.
