Reports have surfaced over the past few days that Roger Goodell is planning on being present in Cleveland for the NFL Draf with thousands of fans in attendance. As everyone remembers last year, the NFL Draft was held virtually and Goodell hosted it from his basement. It was the first time in a long time that Goodell was not met with boos each and every time he stepped up to the podium.

As someone who loathes Roger Goodell, I don’t want to see the guy in person this year getting booed.

This may sound counterintuitive, but hear me out. Roger Goodell is an egomaniac fuckstick that loves getting booed. He may not show it on stage, in fact, he simply no sells it. But this guy loves it when he gets booed because it draws attention to the draft. It brings more attention to the NFL. This guy loves it when negative spotlight is cast upon him because he knows that regardless of whether its negative or positive publicity, he is going to get more attention drawn to his organization.

He is very much like the heel (bad guy) in a wrestling match. His goal is to garner has much negativity so that it can make the face (good guy) that much more likable and have the fan base root for him. NFL fans everywhere hate Roger Goodell, but we love the game of football. No matter what Goodell does throughout the years to tarnish the organization, we will always tune in and the NFL will always be ratings juggernaut that just swims in Olympics size pools of money. NFL fans are essentially a glutton for punishment.

I think it would be a nice change up to have a handful of guest hosts this year instead of Goodell’s smug face on my camera all night. Seriously, the guy looks like he did a 100 yard dash in a 90 yard gym. I don’t want to see his ugly mug on my television on draft night. I think it would be great to have various member from the NFL Hall of Fame make the announcements of draft picks. It would mean a heck of a lot more for these guys who get picked to walk up on stage and shake the hand of a Hall of Famer than a bag of douche like Roger Goodell.

Simply put, Goodell needs to go back to his basement and stay there until the draft is over.
