In the fifth fight of the night, Damion Nelson earned a split decision victory over Ricardo Fuentes.

The first round appeared to be all Nelson. He pushed the action on the feet and grinded Fuentes out against the cage. The second round was stopped for a minute or two after a Nelson eye poke, which even lead to the doctor coming in, but after the brief stoppage Fuentes was able to continue.

Later in the round, Nelson landed some massive right hands, and I’m honestly surprised Fuentes didn’t go down from some of these shots. In virtually every exchange Nelson was proving himself to be the faster, more powerful striker.

The third round was much closer on the feet, and Fuentes even landed a takedown but the damage done by Nelson in the first two rounds was enough to earn him a split decision victory. With the win, Nelson stays undefeated and improves his record to 2-0.
