Richard Sherman Tears Achilles: Likely Out For Season

Is this the end of the Seahawks season?

This season the Seattle Seahawks have been one of the best teams in the NFL. After just eight games, Seattle has a record of five wins and three losses. The Seahawks are second in the NFC West trailing behind only the 6-2 Los Angeles Rams.

One thing that makes the Seahawks a great force in the NFL is their defense. They really live by the motto of “Defense wins Championships.” They proved that motto true winning a Super Bowl in 2013.

One thing that has kept the Seahawks from being even better than they are is injuries. So far this year Seattle has 25 injured players, 11 coming from the defensive side of the ball.

One injury that is more impactful than the others is the injury of star Cornerback Richard Sherman.

In Thursday Nights game against the Arizona Cardinals, Richard Sherman appeared to hurt his Achilles.

In this video, it is clear to see that Richard Sherman tells his teammates that he “tore his Achilles.” It was reported after the game that he actually did rupture his Achilles tendon. Despite Sherman’s Injury, the Seahawks were able to win 22-16.

This is a “punch in the gut” for the Seattle Seahawks as they are now down another defensive player. With defensive stars, Earl Thomas and Richard Sherman injured, one can only watch and see if the Seahawks will be able to keep up with the rest of the NFL.

Richard Sherman has been a big part of Seattle’s defense for many years now and it is going to hurt them not having him on the field. Not only is Sherman a great corner, but he is a great leader, bringing energy to this team.

Only time will tell us how much Sherman’s injury affects this teams chances.
