The Detroit Pistons have finally decided to trade veteran point guard Derrick Rose to the New York Knicks for Dennis Smith Jr and draft compensation. The trade reportedly has been stretched out over a couple months. The Knicks will send Dennis Smith Jr. plus a 2021 second-round pick via the Hornets to the Pistons. The Knicks own the Pistons second round pick this year and it was reported Pistons general manager Troy Weaver wanted his pick back, but was only able to get the Hornets selection this year.
Derrick Rose is currently averaging 14.2 points shooting 42% from the field. The Knicks are on the brink of making the playoffs and they’re looking for bench scoring to help them out. Dennis Smith Jr brings youth to the already young roster in Detroit plus they get to add another young rookie this year in the second round.
