What can I say? Michigan High School Athletic Association should be ashamed after watching this game. It doesn’t matter if it’s high school, college, or the pro’s. Iron Mountain Mountaineers just got screwed out of a State Title. On top of that they drove roughly 500 miles there to get screwed out of a title. Imagine that ride back? Knowing you got robbed out of changing your schools history? I’m not going to recap this game, let’s just jump into two plays that decided the game.

So first off as Iron Mountain has a one point lead… They’re about to score… And… they called this travel call. How is this a travel? This is the most proper way to do a layup. (Iron Mountain would be up by 3)

Another look..

So now… Instead of being up 3, Iron Mountain was up by 1 and Pewamo would get the ball underneath. Iron Mountain had a foul to give…. So they foul and instead of calling a common foul, they called an intentional foul so Pewamo-Westphalia got to shoot two free throws… For the win.. These two calls both happened with under 5 seconds left. Two calls in a row.

Let’s not take away from the great game or anything referee(s) – Way to make it the game about you, and not about the game. Iron Mountain should have let them shoot the half court shot in my opinion. But a common foul, would be foul to give. And Iron Mountain would have been State Champions.

Iron Mountain should be State Champions. On the other side, Iron Mountain is a young team, but for those seniors, they’ll more than likely never have a shot at another opportunity to win a championship.

And for the people that are saying “Oh, they should have played better in the fourth” and “scored more points” come on… You’re joking.. You can’t be serious… No matter what team it is, they got robbed from a State Title..

Here is coach Bucky Johnson after the game…. If I was him, that table might have been flipped.

This can never be given back to those seniors on Iron Mountain….

So…. I figured it was time to giveback somehow anyway.

I went ahead and designed a couple of t-shirts to help offset some of the costs the team had traveling. Feel free to buy one or ten of them. They’ll be shipped out within seven days of ordering. We are donating $8 per t-shirt sold. And if you’re complaining that we aren’t donating 100% of the proceeds. I realized after last time I did that, that it’s better to just pick an exact number per shirt. So $8. Buy it or don’t. The orders (name) will be shown below and updated with the amount we will be donating back. You you can go buy t-shirts off of other websites, who aren’t donating anything back, or go donate $25 to the Iron Mountain Athletic program there address can be found by clicking here.
