Time struck midnight for the Cinderella story of the Columbus Blue Jackets last night as they were shut out by the Boston Bruins, 3-0, in Game 6.

In the shutout, Bruins goaltender Tuukka Rask accounted for 39 saves and was named First Star in the contest.

The first period saw a chippy, but non-scoring period as both teams combined for 22 shots on-goal. A goaltender interference penalty by Blue Jackets forward Pierre-Luc Du Bois was the main highlight of the period.

The tempo picked up in the second period as Columbus put up 17 shots on-goals, each one stopped by Rask.

Boston eventually found the net as David Krejci’s shot blasts past Columbus goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky to make it 1-0 Boston.

With less than a minute in the period, Boston’s Charlie McAvoy was penalized by an illegal check to the head on Blue Jackets’ Josh Anderson. The penalty was deemed as a minor.

Boston forward David Backes would eventually seal the game on a tip-in shot from a Torey Krug pass with less than ten minutes left in the game.
