Rangers Sign David Dahl

Former first round pick David Dahl spent 2016-2020 in a Rockies uniform before being non-tendered a week ago. He will stay at the game’s highest level and out west, as he’s now inked with the Texas Rangers.

Dahl is normally a tremendous bat. From 2016-2019, he was one of the most formidable hitters in baseball, hitting to an .867 OPS. The 2019 All-Star hit 38 homeruns in 240 games, with a robust .297 batting average. After struggling out of the gate in 2020, he could never turn it around in the shortened campaign. He hit .186/.222/.247 for an awful .470 OPS. This led to him being nontendered by the Rockies and hitting the open market.

As the Rangers look to re-tool for what they hope is the first year they have fans inside of their new ballpark, Dahl looks to bounceback on a mutually beneficial 1-year, $3M contract.
