The 25 year old slugger now has the opportunity to play everyday, after being blocked by Yandy Diaz, Michael Brosseau and Ji-Man Choi at first base. In 219 big league AB, he’s posted a positive value at a 0.7 WAR across two seasons. He’s hit 11 homeruns and a .251/.322/.447 slashline for a .770 OPS, slightly above league average.
His biggest moment as a Ray came in September of 2019 during their postseason push.
In return, the Rays will receive catching prospect Heribrto Hernandez, who has only reached High A, and other prospects, per MLBs Mark Feinsand.
