Randy Arozarena is a rookie in the Major Leagues, but at 25 the prodigy has not only made himself a bonafide superstar, but he’s also made MLB history and had a wild ride to the Show.

The Cuban Sensation defected from Cuba to Mexico in 2016 before making the jump to the States when he signed with the St. Louis Cardinals. He debuted at the end of 2019 before being the throw-in piece in a deal that included top pitching prospect Matt Libertore and longtime Major Leaguer Jose Martinez. He flashed off in Spring, but landed COVID and was sick with the symptoms for months.

During COVID, he had a strict diet of rice and chicken while doing hundreds of push-ups a day. He added 15 pounds. He came up toward the end of August and in 23 games, he hit seven homeruns.

He hit .527 over the postseason and he went 29-for-55. His 29 hits were the most in a single postseason by any player in MLB history. His 1.273 OPS is top five in postseason history over a single October, only behind Hall of Famer Paul Molitor, multi-time MVP Alex Rodriguez and postseason legend David Ortiz. He hit ten homeruns, the most in a single postseason. He also had this insane walkoff run.

Now, he’s reaching the big-time. According to the Hollywood Reporter, a biopic is in the works. Wonderfilm has given the go-ahead on the project, which will be penned by Brad Gann, who wrote Soul Surfer.

“Randy’s story is so inspirational – his journey grabs at your heart and this film will explore the triumphs of the human spirit when driven and focused,” notes Wonderfilm’s Bret Saxon.

The production is set to take place in 2021. It will be produced by Saxon and Jeff Bowler. Gregg Baker and Jeff Lewis are the executive producers for the film.
