Rafael Ortega made his Major League debut with the Rockies in 2012, but was released in 2013. Since, he’s bounced around the league with stints as an Angel, Marlin and Brave. Following his release with Colorado, he jumped through the system of many organizations but wasn’t back in the Majors until 2016.

Perhaps, he’s most remembered so far as a Brave, if not solely for this big grand slam.

He was a pivotal piece for the Braves that dealt with a variety of injuries in 2019 yet still won the NL East. He re-signed with them for the 2020 season but never played a game with the club. He has now signed a deal with the Chicago Cubs in hopes to get back to the Major Leagues. Ortega has a career slashline of .229/.287/.290 in 410 at bats, well below league average.
