AXS TV has officially cancelled WOW Superheroes according to three different sources this week who wanted to remain anonymous. The network and WOW have not mentioned anything publicly about it yet. AXS TV will now only focus on Impact Wrestling as their pro wrestling brand. WOW is planning on taping again in the fall, in Los Angeles, pending the ongoing virus pandemic situation. They will announce a new distribution deal at that time.

WOW last taped in mid-September 2019 several days after Anthem Sports and Entertainment, the parent company of Impact Wrestling, bought the majority interest stake in AXS TV. Those episodes have not aired anywhere to date. Suspicions were raised after months went by without any word on the show’s future status.

Immediately after taking over the network, Anthem C.C.O. Ed Nordholm gave members of the media the same “canned response” claiming nothing would change in the programming lineup in the short-term. Two days after he said it, Legacy Fighting Alliance was cancelled off of AXS TV Fights and LFA later sued over breach of contract. New Japan Pro Wrestling’s AXS TV show was cancelled in December 2019.

Back in November 2019, I heard credible stories coming out of the RISE and SHIMMER weekend in Berwyn, Illinois that assumed WOW would not last under the new network management with Impact Wrestling having major influence over any other pro wrestling content. One of their alleged ideas at the time was to have a possible weekly Impact Knockouts show. RISE owner Kevin Harvey just appeared on Impact Wrestling a few weeks ago as the unnamed producer getting bullied by Michael Elgin backstage. He has previously worked with Impact in co-promoting the “RISE Of The Knockouts” live Twitch event on 7/7/18.

In the last couple of months, Impact has signed Deonna Purrazzo, Kylie Rae, Tasha Steelz, Nevaeh and Kimber Lee to the Knockouts roster. Other members of their women’s division include Impact World Champion Tessa Blanchard, Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace, Taya Valkyrie, Kiera Hogan, Susie/Su Yung, Havok, Tenille Dashwood, Rosemary and Madison Rayne. Gail Kim is a producer backstage and Alisha Edwards has also been working behind the scenes.

The last episode of WOW on AXS TV aired on 11/23/19 (taped on 5/16/19). The main event saw The Beast finally defeat Tess Blanchard for the WOW Championship after a season long title chase. The series reboot featured a much more serious in-ring product with lots of fast paced and intense action. New WOW Tag Team Champions were also crowned as Fire and Adrenaline (aka Kiera Hogan and Diamanté) won the vacant titles from Havok and Hazard (aka Nevaeh) in the tournament finals.
