The Miz defeated Otis with the aid of Tucker at last night’s WWE Hell in a Cell event, making him a two-time holder of the Money in the Bank contract. He joins CM Punk and Edge as superstars who will have two cash-ins.

It’s certainly an interesting move, seeing as it’s been ten years since the Miz was a fixture in the main event scene and four years since the fans began clamoring for him to get back there. Yet, this is the least serious his character has been in a decade. Of course, being the Miz, it takes one promo and a few shenanigan’s to get back to being a top level heel. As for Otis, they clearly had no plans other than a feel good moment by giving him the contract in the first place. The last four men’s Money in the Bank contracts have gone to Baron Corbin, who failed a cash in against Jinder Mahal in 2017. In 2018, Braun Strowman’s cash-in ended on a no-contest, due to interference from Brock Lesnar. Last year, Brock Lesnar won the case in a match he didn’t even start when Mustafa Ali was about to have his crowning moment. Now, Otis doesn’t even get to see a cash-in.

But, the Miz has more than earned this spot. He constantly turns chicken shit into chicken salad, despite not having the best stories and has been Mr. Reliable for 15 years when nobody thought he’d last two. What are some potential cash-in scenarios? The Miz offers a lot of versatility in how to go about it.

Survivor Series vs Randy Orton

Okay, CM Punk on commentary in the above clip saying “this looks very familiar to me” got me to chuckle. This seems fairly obvious, as Randy Orton won his eighth WWE Championship last night. Survivor Series is on November 22nd at the Amway Center in Orlando. The Miz cashed in on Randy Orton on November 22nd, 2010, at the Amway Center in Orlando to become WWE Champion. Ten years to the day history would repeat itself.

A WrestleMania Cash-In

With WrestleMania 37 on the horizon, WWE is likely already planning their main event. The Rock has been heavily rumored to be wrestling his second cousin, Roman Reigns. Roman Reigns, who recently turned heel, has been targeting members of his family trying to become the Chief Prince of the Samoan Dynasty. Last night, WWE even brought out Hall of Famers the Wild Samoans to crown him. I thought that was really cool because that era of wrestling doesn’t get brought up enough and I’d love to see more guys brought back for spots here and there as opposed to the legends we see often (Bradshaw, Bill Goldberg, Ric Flair, Booker T, Lita, etc).

The Roman Reigns story will probably reach its end come WrestleMania, but the Rock won’t be returning long enough to defend the Universal Championship if this match does come to fruition (right now it’s purely speculation). This is a perfect full-circle for the Miz because of the story arch of how his WWE Championship WrestleMania Main Event was overshadowed by the Rock at WrestleMania 27 in 2011. This would give the Miz another WrestleMania championship victory to end the show, but this time he wouldn’t need the Rock’s assistance. The one legitimate main roster championship the Miz hasn’t won is the Universal Championship.

Meet Another Two Time Mr. MITB

WWE Hall of Famer Edge is 4x WWE Champion and still has beef with Randy Orton. Edge, who retired in 2011 due to neck injuries, is arguably the most beloved superstar in WWE history and the story of him winning the WWE Championship for the first time since 2009 would be extremely compelling.

The Miz needs heat. Imagine if Edge wins his second Royal Rumble match, defeats Randy Orton once and for all at WrestleMania and the Miz cashes in to rob him of his moment? Instant heat.

Daniel Bryan Revisited.

It was a promo against Daniel Bryan that re-established the Miz as one of the greatest heels of all-time back in 2016. They go back all of the way to 2010,when former Ring of Honor World Champion The American Dragon was an NXT “Rookie” and his Pro was The Miz. Daniel Bryan and the Miz feuded throughout the early 2010s, until Daniel Bryan broke away as one of the WWEs premiere talents. After a neck injury prematurely ended his run, The Miz targeted him, and when Bryan was back, the two feuded again.

If Edge is ready by the Royal Rumble, one great idea would be to have him beat Randy Orton at the Rumble and Daniel Bryan finally get his Royal Rumble victory after the debacles that were 2014 and 2015. Bryan, a 4x WWE Champion, would wrestle Edge in the main event that nobody thought would ever happen. The ultimate dream match to put together the two greatest comeback stories in WWE history. Daniel Bryan would go over, then the Miz would cash-in on him to become WWE Champion.

The NXT Championship

I’m not sure how crazy I am about this specific idea, but the Miz has worked with everybody on Raw and SmackDown and this would give him a fresh start and fresh set of opponents. Finn Balor, on paper, is by the far the weakest of the three champions and already has an injury written in should he be cleared. The Miz can capitalize on this and win the NXT Championship. If, and it could very well be the case, Finn Balor isn’t cleared to compete and is forced to relinquish the NXT Championship, then the Miz could cash-in on nobody and be awarded the belt and boast about it, only in a way that The Miz can. This would allow him to claim about how he’s better than everybody in NXT, while never actually beating anybody. Whoever would beat the Miz, an established WWE Champion, for the NXT Championship is a made superstar on the spot. It’d also allow Miz to thrive being a big fish in a little pond, while hopefully boosting ratings head-to-head against AEW Dynamite on Wednesday nights.

The Miz getting the contract is fascinating because there’s so many ways this story could progress. Either way, I’m ecstatic to see how it plays out and nobody deserves this opportunity more than the Miz.
