Phillies Place Bryce Harper And Kyle Schwarber On The IL

The Philadelphia Phillies have placed both Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber on the 10-day injured list. Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports from sources that both have avoided significant injuries.

As per Gelb, Harper suffered a low-grade hamstring strain. He can return as soon as July 9. The Phillies could give Harper more rest time with the All-Star break occurring from July 15-18.

Schwarber’s groin strain is reported to be mild. He may be able to return after 10 days on the IL.

Harper is hitting .303 with this season with 20 home runs and 20 doubles while driving in 58 runs. He extended his hitting streak to 12 games Thursday.

Schwarber is hitting .250 with 17 home runs on the year. These are two big bats that the Phillies will be missing.

The Phillies have activated Kody Clemens and recalled Johan Rojas.
