The Philadelphia Phillies have made a trade with the Tampa Bay Rays for outfielder Ruben Cardenas as per Kiley McDaniel of ESPN.
Cardenas has a .281 batting average with 11 home runs and 28 RBI for the Rays Triple-A affiliate this season.
The Phillies acquired Cardenas due to Brandon Marsh’s hamstring injury to supply depth for future injuries.
David Dahl has been promoted the Phillies Triple-A team to replace Marsh in left field and he has been hitting the ball really well, since being called up to the show.
The 26 year-old Cardenas has never appeared in a Major League game. There were no terms given as to what the Phillies gave up to acquire him.
