The Philadelphia Phillies have activated shortstop Trea Turner from the injured list. He will bat second for tonight’s game against the San Diego Padres.
Turner has been out since May 3, missing 38 games after straining his left hamstring in a Phillies victory over the San Francisco Giants.
Before going on the IL, Turner had a two home runs, 9 RBI, 10 stolen bases and a .343 batting average.
Edmundo Sosa did a great job filling in for Turner. He has 5 home runs and 19 RBI with a .277 batting average on the season.
This a great time for the Phillies to get the talented Turner back in the lineup, especially with J.T. Realmuto out with a knee injury.
The 30 year-old Turner is a four time All-Star and top offensive player. Having him hit between Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper gives a big boost to the Phillies lineup.
To make room for Turner on the roster, the Phillies sent center fielder Johan Rojas to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
