The Philadelphia Phillies have acquired outfielder Austin Hays from the Baltimore Orioles for relief pitcher Seranthony Dominguez and outfielder Cristian Pache.
Hays is a 29 year-old right-handed-hitting outfielder who made the American League All-Star team in 2023. He has played in 68 games this and has a .255 batting with 13 doubles and three home runs.
Hays has been used primarily in a platoon role mostly starting only against left handed pitching for the Orioles this season.
This season, Hays has a .328 batting against lefties. He hit a career high 22 homers in 2021 and had a career high .275 batting in 144 games last season.
The Phillies had been searching for a right-handed bat for their outfield and Hays fits the part.
Hays is expected to start against left-handed pitching and provide some offense to the Phillies outfield.
