LeBron James seems to always be the subject of attention in the NBA. He is a polarizing figure with endless talent, which makes sense why he is always being reported on.

James did not exactly leave Miami on the best of terms. In fact, Miami Heat President Pat Riley stated the following in his book about James leaving Miami unexpectedly.

“I had two or three days of tremendous anger. I was absolutely livid,” Riley told Ian Thomsen’s 2018 book, The Soul of Basketball. “My beautiful plan all of a sudden came crashing down. That team in 10 years could have won five or six championships.”

With that said, Riley made a few more comments recently about LeBron and a potential return to Miami next season.

“I would leave the key under the doormat if he would call me and let me know that he’s coming,” Riley said. “I would do that, but I doubt very much that key…That key is rusted now.

“LeBron, look, he’s one of the greatest of all time, and for four years down here, if we want to go back and remember what those four years were like, it was four years in the Finals, four years of excitement, two world championships…It was the best time for the Heat. So I wish him nothing but the best, and if he ever wanted to come back, I’ll put a new shiny key under the mat.”

In other NBA news, hall of fame coach Phil Jackson recently sat down and discussed the comparison between Michael Jordan and Shaquille O’Neal:

“The reality is, Shaq is so dominant you always have an over-match- you can always draw a double team. You can almost always get a shot for somebody because he’s got a double team.

“The drawback about that is if he’s got to have the ball put in his hand. Whereas Michael can get it and take it 90 feet and develop something from within that aspect of bringing it up the court and finding an operating space. They’re both great.”
