In a strange move, the Brew Crew recently inked Luis Perdomo on a minor-league deal after he was nontendered by the San Diego Padres. Perdomo, however, will miss all of 2021 due to Tommy John Surgery so it’s unlikely for him to even pitch a game in the duration of the contract.
Perdomo does have more years of arbitration ahead, should the Brewers tender him a Major League deal and have him ride the 60-day IL, they will eventually get Perdomo pitching for the big league club thanks to this contract.
Despite being a highly touted prospect, Perdomo has yet to translate in MLB. He has a -1.2 lifetime WAR, with a 5.19 lifetime ERA over five seasons and 444 innings of work.
