The Notre Dame Fighting Irish start the season with a big 23-13 victory over Texas A&M on the road in a hostile environment.
This a huge win for Notre Dame Head Coach Marcus Freeman in his third season. His first two years had some good moments, but also some lows.
Fighting Irish QB Riley Leonard rose to the occasion under big-time pressure in the big-time atmosphere on the SEC stage and delivered big time.
Leonard’s numbers didn’t jump off the page. He completed 18 of 35 passes for 158 yards and 63 yards rushing on 12 carries, but it was the poise, presence and command was impressive.
The Irish rushing attack was strong. It was led by Jeremiyah Love. He rushed for a team high 91 yards and a touchdown with a 6.5 yards per carry average.
Jadarian Price rushed 44 yards and a touchdown. He also rattled off the biggest run of the night for the Fighting Irish.
Price and Love could the Irish one of the best running back duos in all of college football if they continue to look the way they did last night.
This was a very important win for Notre Dame. With thi victory, the Fighting Irish are in prime position for a hosting seed College Football Playoff berth.
