If the Houston Texans are going to trade Deshaun Watson, it will likely be in the off-season and not before Tuesday.

Houston is prepared to hold onto Watson past Tuesday’s 4pm trade deadline, as the team will explore trade options once the 2021 season is over.

Watson is facing 22 counts of sexual misconduct, but because of the lack of evidence that the NFL has, he has yet to be suspended and if Watson were to be traded, he could play at any time.

Houston has played Tyrod Taylor and David Mills while Watson has been a healthy scratch each week, as Houston tried desperately to trade him.

The Miami Dolphins were reportedly set to make a trade for Watson, as the reports indicated that Miami would send Houston three first round picks for him, but the trade hung on Watson having his legal issues resolved; they aren’t.

A lot could happen between now and the off-season, as Watson could get the legal issues resolved and can resume his playing career. They also might not and Houston would still have to figure out their quarterback situation since they clearly have no intentions of having Watson play for them again.

It might be best for Houston do pull off this kind of trade in the off-season, where they aren’t hampered by a deadline and have more time to figure out where they can send Watson.
