NFL Power Rankings Week 3

Week 2 in the NFL was the week of the kickers….in the bad way. Sheesh, these guys are getting paid millions to do what they do best and consistently missing extra points and field goals left and right. The Vikings and Browns both released their kickers following miserable performances Sunday that cost both teams the game. The Vikings went out Monday and signed former Cowboys veteran kicker Dan Bailey which provides them with some security at the position.

  1. Los Angeles Rams (2-0): First Shutout of the season goes to the Rams, not surprising as they were projected to have a top 3 defense in the league.
  2. Jacksonville Jaguars (2-0): Any time you beat Tom Brady and the Patriots it is a huge win, any time you man handle the Patriots you are considered a great team. Jags got their revenge from the playoffs last year when they lost to the Patriots in the AFC championship game.
  3. Kansas City Chiefs (2-0): Chiefs have found their man, Patrick Mahomes is the real deal. 10 touchdowns in 2 games is the most ever by a QB and it doesn’t look like he will slow down any time soon.
  4. New England Patriots (1-1): Real shaky week against Jacksonville but Tom Brady is 16-4 after a loss in the last 5 seasons. Expect a huge comeback game this week. Can’t forget the Patriots also traded for Josh Gordon who can easily become Brady’s new favorite target.
  5. Philadelphia Eagles (1-1): The Eagles defense continues to impress against the run although Fitzmagic tore them up. With Wentz coming back the offense should get a big boost and catch form in the next few weeks.
  6. Minnesota Vikings (1-0-1): Kirk Cousins is fitting right into Minnesota’s offense. With a little help on a weak roughing the passer call the Vikings marched down the field late in the 4th to tie the game up.
  7. Atlanta Falcons (1-1): After a weak offensive output in the opening game, the Falcons showed why they are contenders this year. Falcons converted on all red-zone opportunities this week after a lackluster performance against the eagles.
  8. New Orleans Saints (1-1): Drew Brees has the third highest passer rating in the league right now and does not look to be losing a step with his older age. Alvin Kamara continuing to crush opposing defenses with his ability to run with the ball.
  9. Green Bay Packers (1-0-1): My only concern is that Aaron Rodgers will have to do it all on a weekly basis. I am not sure if he will be able to handle the heavy load given to him although he is one of the best. With the early injury he may see some wear and tear in the middle of the season.
  10. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-0): FITZMAGIC is back and better than ever, the swag he has is unprecedented from a Harvard alumni. No chance they can bench him when Winston comes back now.
  11. Cincinnati Bengals (2-0): Bengals offense is looking good to start, Joe Mixon seems to be like he can be a huge help to Andy Dalton with check downs to his running back.
  12. Pittsburgh Steelers (0-1-1): The Steelers are in disarray. I am not ready to write them off yet but Antonio Brown is lashing out at his offensive coordinator and threatening the Steelers to trade him via twitter. Le’Veon Bell is on a Jet ski in Miami screaming to the camera to be paid, not a good start.
  13. Carolina Panthers (1-1): A point of emphasis during the offseason was to make Cam Newton be a better passer this year. Completing 69% of his passes so far he is on track to have his best completion percentage in his career.
  14. Denver Broncos (2-0): Over the last 10 regular season games Case Keenum has the second best record for any QB at 8-2, can he continue his streak??
  15. Los Angeles Chargers (1-1): The Chargers offense is a high powered machine trailing only the Saints in most offensive categories. I am not sold on them yet as they just played the worst team in the NFL and only scored 3 points in the second half.
  16. Dallas Cowboys (1-1): Dak looked much better this week not turning the ball over while his receivers were running much better routed this week. The Cowboys really used Tavon Austin into many packages this week which seemed to work out well.
  17. Miami Dolphins (2-0): The way to win NFL games is by not turning the ball over and converting on your opponents mistakes. The Dolphins did just that against the Jets converting 3 turnovers into all 20 points they had.
  18. San Francisco 49ers (1-1): Matt Bredia stepping into the running back role for the 49ers with a huge game this week, 11 carries for 138 yards. If Jimmy G and Bredia can get into a groove, the 49ers have potential to make some noise for a wild card push.
  19. Tennessee Titans (1-1): The Titans snuck out a win without Marcus Mariota who seems to have a week by week injury right now. If Mariota can come back to his normal form the Titans have a chance to make the AFC South interesting with the Jaguars for part of the year.
  20. Baltimore Ravens (1-1): The Ravens defense is the strong side of the ball this year. Joe Flacco is having one of his best statistical starts to his career throwing touchdowns to 5 different players in 2 games.
  21. Chicago Bears (1-1): The Bears have a lethal defense that led them to victory on Monday night against the Seahawks. Khalil Mack is a BEAST and will prove to be a huge reason why the Bears will be talked about this year.
  22. Washington Redskins (1-1): A weak weak showing this time around for the two headed monster of Thompson and AP in the backfield. Rushing for a combined 21 yards on 12 carries, that is not how the Redskins will climb to the top of the NFC east.
  23. Houston Texans (0-2): Not how I predicted the season would start, my long shot Super Bowl favorites as stated on the Wager Vision Podcast are struggling in all facets of the game.
  24. New York Jets (1-1): Like every rookie Sam Darnold is going to have his hiccups as shown in this weeks game against the Dolphins. Points off of turnovers is a recipe for a loss, in order for Darnold to grow he will need to learn from these mistakes.
  25. Indianapolis Colts (1-1): Andrew Luck starting to get the rust out, only issue is the interceptions. His passing game is strong but his wideouts are not. He will need to do a lot himself and throw some dimes for the Colts to win games this year.
  26. Seattle Seahawks (0-2): Not sure how many games the Seahawks can win. Once a powerhouse in the NFL now a easy win for many teams. Russell Wilson can keep them in games but the others around can’t help him get over the hump.
  27. Cleveland Browns (0-1-1): Boy oh Boy the Browns can’t catch a break. 3 missed field goals and a missed extra point cost them in a 3 point loss to the Saints on the road. Making progress as a team, when will the Browns finally win a game?
  28. Oakland Raiders (0-2): The 100 million dollar coaches plan was to start 0-2 right? Wrong! Gruden is struggling to keep his team together as players already are having some words about the coach.
  29. Detroit Lions (0-2): A better showing in week 2 putting up 27 points but couldn’t come out with a win. Stafford had over 300 yards, threw for three touchdowns and zero interceptions. A team with a QB with those stats has to be able to win that game.
  30. New York Giants (0-2): Giants season may hang in the balance early on as they play an 0-2 Houston team coming up. They have shown nothing great on either side of the ball besides for some acrobatic plays by Barkley.
  31. Arizona Cardinals (0-2): I think its time for Josh Rosen, 6 total points in two games. What is the point of continuing with a veteran QB in Bradford.
  32. Buffalo Bills (0-2): Never before has a player ever retired at halftime but Vontae Davis did just that because the Bills are that bad. I really do not see a win on their schedule at all.
